Latifa Saeed is a multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates disciplines including geology, physics, classical geometry, and the mathematics of harmony. Her artistic enquiry centres on the golden ratio, which she understands not as a fixed mathematical concept but as a universal rhythm that recurs across natural and cultural systems. She traces this principle in the curvature of shells and the orbit of planets, and channels its logic into the structure of her forms. Her installations often follow an underlying cadence, revealing an attentiveness to the hidden logic that shapes both matter and memory.

Her practice moves away from reactive aesthetics to pursue the deeper architectures of form, proportion, and elemental matter. Grounded in sustained research, it resists the urgencies of the present and instead observes principles that have endured across millennia. Her inquiries often begin with the land itself. Sand, mineral, and sediment become both material and metaphor, guiding her toward the quiet harmonies that govern both nature and thought.

Her recent work moves beyond conventional visual narratives, engaging instead with an epistemology of pattern, recurrence, and metaphysical scale. Through sculpture, installation, and conceptual design, she composes visual arguments that bridge scientific reasoning and artistic intuition. She is drawn to repetition not as decoration but as meaning: the recurrence of a form becomes an iteration of a philosophical refrain.

Saeed holds a degree in Arts and Sciences from Zayed University, awarded in 2007, and was later selected for the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artist Fellowship in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been shown regionally and internationally, including in Riyadh’s Prince Faisal bin Fahd Fine Arts Hall and in the Richard Mille Art Prize exhibition Art Here at Louvre Abu Dhabi. In 2023, she became the first Emirati artist to present a solo exhibition in Almaty, Kazakhstan, curated by art historian Valeria Ibraeva.

Her ongoing research into what she calls “Arabic Futurism” proposes a speculative lineage for innovation rooted in the universal intellectual tradition. In this vision, abstraction, symmetry, and cosmological thinking are not imported ideals, but inherited methods – native to a history in which science and art were never separate. Rather than breaking from tradition, her work listens to its quieter frequencies.

Latifa Saeed’s practice continues to unfold as a meditation on structure, rhythm, and recurrence. Her forms do not impose meaning; they reveal it slowly. Each line, each interval, is a gesture towards the ancient intelligence that lives within all ordered things.
